Thank you for downloading the eveRide 988 Loop!
Here are some quick tips for an absolutely incredible journey:

The 988 can be started, stopped, or restarted anywhere along the loop. If you're trailering your motorcycles in, you can stage anywhere along the loop, but the BEST place to start is in St. George because it is the largest city along the whole route, with multiple amenities and motorcycle shops for parts/service etc.

If you plan on staging/ending in St. George, we'd love to meet you and provide a place to stay! We have a three bedroom (6 bed) downstairs apartment "Moto Mansion" for rent. During your stay I'd be happy to go over the route with you and answer any questions! The "Moto Mansion" has a secure garage for you to park your bikes, tools you're welcome to borrow, and a large driveway that you can park your vehicles/trailers. We expect to host many 988 travelers, so it's a "hostel style" setup where you may be sharing the moto mansion with other guests.

If you're worried you don't have all the precise gear, check with us, first! We have motorcycle luggage, communication headsets, GPS beacons, and other gear to rent.

If you'd rather fly in and ride a rental, we may be able to arrange a few motorcycle rentals.

If you're riding the loop solo, or you just need a little "insurance" besides your GPS beacon in case something goes wrong, I'm happy to be your backup truck. You can pay $100 up front for trailside "insurance" for me to come pick you up in case you run into any problems, plus the cost of fuel. If you forego insurance I'm happy to come help you out for $75 an hour plus fuel. This is only for bike retrieval, simple repairs, fuel issues, and minor injuries/fatigue, not for serious medical emergencies.

The route names have a LOT of built in information: mileage, normal temperature, road surface, gas stops, and other relevant info. These tracks were created and exported in OSMAND, and are color coded for difficulty. However, other GPS programs might change the colors of the tracks. Other GPS programs might also break up the tracks, with straight lines instead of bread crumbs along the specific roads. Don't worry, though, the routes can still be navigated this way.
Black = Road/Tarmac Surface
Green = Easy dirt road
Yellow = Double track or moderately challenging dirt road
Red = Challenging trail

Planning for weather:
The temperature listed in the titles can help you plan a good route for summer months. Areas listed as "HOT" should probably be avoided during mid day, but are great for early morning and riding when the weather is poor or cold. Areas listed as "COLD" are typically at high altitude and are a godsent during hot weather, but should be absolutely avoided during any kind of inclement weather. Many of the "HOT" routes can actually be ridden in the dead of winter, while "COLD" routes may be impassable until snow melts, sometimes in June.

Planning for fuel:
There are some REALLY remote trails along the 988, especially in southeastern Utah near Capitol Reef. The GPS track names have mileage and fuel stops included. Please double check the range of your motorcycle against the mileage of your planned routes and the fuel stops within.

Planning for Lodging:
Utah is wide open for camping, and most land is National Forest or Bureau of Land Management. This means you can camp pretty much anywhere, but access to water and toilet facilities is limited. Please only build fires when absolutely necessary, follow all fire instructions and warnings, and leave no trace.
The 988 runs though some very small towns with limited lodging options. If you're planning on using hotels/motels/Airbnb, be sure to plan ahead and make reservations early! Also, if using Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com, etc, please try and book from native Utah hosts. Many hosts from out-of-state buy up Utah homes, drive prices up, and force locals out, essentially destroying the small towns and economies. When locals can't afford to live in the small towns they grew up in, the jobs dry up, then the infrastructure (gas stations, markets, restaurants) dry up, then they become ghost towns.

If you'd like to stay at the "Moto Mansion" before and after your adventure, get some "insurance" backup truck support, or rent anything like headsets, gps beacons, or luggage from the eveRide crew (Jess and me), please contact us at info@everideadv.com

Much love and remember, LIFE IS A TRAIL WORTH RIDING!
